Here’s what past contributors to MR have published in the month of August! Stay tuned at the end of each month for more updates.
Jehanne Dubrow’s book of lyric meditations on taste, Taste: A Book of Small Bites, is out now with Columbia University Press. With essays that blends personal experience with analysis of literature and the visual arts, as well as religious and philosophical texts, Dubrow considers the science of taste and how that sense works beyond just food. Her work was featured in Vol. 62, Issue 2 of MR.
"A bold and moving exploration of the ethics of heroism," (Times Literary Supplement, of the German Edition) Tess Lewis has translated Anne Weber’s biography of Annette Beaumanoir, a medical student who joined the French Resistance in World War 2. Epic Annette: A Heroine’s Tale is out now with The Indigo Press. Tess' work was featured in Vol. 61, Issue 2.
Out now with Graywolf Press, Claire Schwartz’s new poetry collection, “Civil Service,” is a study in complicity with crushing state violence. Claire's poetry was featured in Vol. 58, Issue 2.
Johannes Göransson’s poetry collection, “Summer,” is out now with Tarpaulin Sky Press, his fifth with the press. Göransson teaches at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana and co-publishes Action Books together with his wife, author Joyelle McSweeney. His work was featured in Climate, our special issue looking at the ongoing climate crisis (Vol. 62, Issue 4).
